Dr. Vinky Chadha
Los Angeles
Internal Medicine
Dr. Vinky Chadha built his career on a simple but profound insight: in internal medicine, connecting with patients matters just as much as clinical knowledge. Throughout more than 30 years of practice as a board-certified internist, Dr. Chadha has mastered the ability to adapt his approach to each person’s needs, knowing when to dive into technical details, when to offer reassurance, and when to encourage someone to make changes that will improve their health. His gift for helping people feel heard and understood allows him to guide them through everything from complex health decisions to preventive care plans with both medical rigor and deep empathy.
Dr. Chadha decided to pursue medicine early in life before he knew what being a physician would truly entail. What he discovered through his training, however, was that the career aligned perfectly with who he is. Dr. Chadha realized during his clinical rotations that he loved the complexity of internal medicine problems, and that helping people manage intricate health challenges would allow him to make a lasting impact.
Dr. Chadha earned his Bachelor of Science through Northwestern University’s prestigious Honors Program in Medical Education, which allowed him to complete his undergraduate degree in just two years before continuing directly to medical school. He received his MD from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Northwestern University/McGaw Medical Center.
Following his training, Dr. Chadha joined the faculty at Northwestern and spent more than two decades there. His role blended inpatient medicine, outpatient care, and extensive teaching responsibilities, where he worked with medical students and residents at all levels of training. As Director of the Senior Medicine Clerkship and Associate Director of the Junior Medicine Clerkship, Dr. Chadha shaped the education of many future physicians, teaching them not only through direct instruction but by modeling the art of patient-centered medicine.
Teaching energized Dr. Chadha, and his excellence in medical education earned him recognition throughout his career. In 2012, Dr. Chadha became the youngest attending physician ever inducted into the Northwestern University Department of Medicine’s Hall of Fame. “I learned so much while I was teaching. Interacting with student doctors is amazing because they are so excited about even the smallest things, and their questions make you stay up to date on everything,” Dr. Chadha says.
In 2017, Dr. Chadha and his family moved to Los Angeles, where he established a concierge internal medicine practice. This allowed him to build on his vast medical experience treating all manner of complex and acute health concerns by developing long-term relationships with patients and focusing on preventive care.
For Dr. Chadha, the key to being an excellent internist is combining clinical knowledge with the ability to connect authentically with patients. “The biggest part of being a good physician is not how smart you are. It’s whether you can connect with someone so they trust you,” he says. This means knowing when to be funny, when to be serious, and when to be technical, adapting his approach to meet each patient where they are.
Dr. Chadha takes time to listen carefully to his patients, recognizing that much of medicine is driven by anxiety. When people experience symptoms, they often turn to Google or friends and become overwhelmed with information. “I try to be a calming presence and guide them to finding a path forward,” he says.
Dr. Chadha is passionate about continuous learning, describing it as one of the best parts of medicine, and loves sharing his knowledge with others. “You never fully reach the mountain top in medicine,” he says. “I love learning and then relearning as new science is uncovered.” He particularly enjoys staying current with emerging science in longevity medicine, and emphasizes the fundamentals—exercising, eating healthfully, sleeping well, and controlling stress—remain key as he helps patients stay healthy throughout their lives.
Whenever patients have questions about new treatments or supplements, Dr. Chadha likes to present them with the evidence, discuss the risks and benefits of different options, and then make decisions together based on each person’s individual circumstances and preferences. Whether it’s exploring new data on menopausal hormone therapy, evaluating emerging peptides, or reassessing long-held medical assumptions, Dr. Chadha brings intellectual curiosity to every situation.
At Atria, he relishes the opportunity to consult with colleagues across disciplines and engage in deep discussions about diagnostic and treatment approaches. “Atria gives us access to colleagues who are experts in their fields and we can collaborate all in one place,” Dr. Chadha says. “Having that support is really great for me, and even better for the patients.” This allows him to help patients navigate acute health challenges and long-term wellness goals with confidence, providing both medical expertise and emotional support to ensure his patients receive the highest quality care.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Chadha enjoys spending time with his wife, who is also a physician, and their three children. He is an avid sports fan, and loves playing golf with his friends and getting out into nature.
