Dr. Romina Wancier is a board-certified pediatrician who takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to the care of children and is deeply committed to their well-being from infancy through young adulthood. By combining a rich personal understanding of parenthood, the latest scientific research, her broad background in teaching and academia, and decades of experience in medicine, Dr. Wancier offers caring and comprehensive guidance that helps families establish healthy habits and prioritize preventive care as children grow.

“My focus is always on building trusting relationships, promoting health, and supporting families and children in their physical, emotional, and cognitive development,” Dr. Wancier says. “I base my recommendations on the best available evidence while considering what works for each family and child, their specific needs, goals, and developmental stage.”

Dr. Wancier was born in Argentina and raised by her mother, a pioneering female physician, and her father, an electrical engineer. Her childhood was immersed in stories of patients and projects, which sparked her curiosity about the science of medicine and the art of diagnosis, and a love for problem-solving and learning.

After moving to Miami and graduating from high school, Dr. Wancier studied psychology at Northwestern University. Toward the end of her college years, she was diagnosed with metastatic thyroid cancer. Following her successful treatment, Dr. Wancier discovered a renewed sense of purpose. “In the aftermath of my illness, I discovered a deeper calling. It wasn’t merely about regaining my health—it was about embracing medicine as the most powerful way to touch lives, to offer healing and hope. It became clear to me that I wanted to help others through their struggles, just as I was supported through mine,”she says.

Dr. Wancier returned to Florida to study medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. During medical school, Dr. Wancier realized how much she appreciated the deep and long lasting relationships with patients and their families that only pediatrics can offer. “There are so many magical moments we witness in pediatrics. Babies beginning to speak and walk, children growing and learning about the world, adolescents coming of age and becoming healthy young adults. I just adore being there with them for all of it,” Dr. Wancier says.

After graduation, Dr. Wancier moved to New York City and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College and New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Once she finished her training, Dr. Wancier was invited to join the faculty at Weill Cornell, where she served as Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medical College and Attending Pediatrician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. She moved with her family to Westchester in 2009 and spent the next years in private practice at Children and Women’s Physicians of Westchester and Briarcliff Pediatrics Associates prior to joining Atria.

Over the years, Dr. Wancier has cared for thousands of patients and families. She has treated both well and ill children in outpatient and inpatient settings, general primary care patients and medically complex children from all backgrounds, and she has regularly taught medical students and residents. Dr. Wancier remains an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College and she is affiliated with multiple hospitals, including Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital and Northwell Health Phelps Hospital.

Dr. Wancier’s experience enhanced the way she approaches educating parents and kids on a daily basis. “I make it a priority to listen closely to both the child and their family, address their concerns, and infuse humor, simple language, and real-life examples into every visit. We have fun learning. Over the years, we include the children more and more so they can learn the skills to take charge of their wellness into adulthood,” she says.

Dr. Wancier relishes Atria’s model of care. “Atria allows us the time and resources to build deeper connections with families, focus on wellness, and address medical concerns comprehensively without the time constraints of the traditional health care system.I treasure being able to really find out about the children, their hobbies and friendships, their exciting accomplishments, and the obstacles in their way,” she says. “This is a journey we take together.”

Dr. Wancier lives in Westchester with her husband, three children, and their dog, PJ. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, practicing yoga, and spending time with her family. She speaks fluent Spanish and is a lover of travel and all cultures. She was featured in a book about healthy eating called What Doctors Eat, and her play, Mittelshmertz, was performed at the Black Box New Play Festival in New York.
