Dr. Richard Linsky
New York
Emergency Medicine
Dr. Richard Linsky is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with more than 25 years of experience caring for patients in some of the busiest and most complex emergency departments in the country. His background spans government emergency medical security services, disaster medicine, tactical medicine, international aeromedical transport, and medical education.
Throughout his career, he has maintained a clear sense of purpose: to be unshakable in every situation. “Emergency medicine is pure medicine,” he says. “You have to be an expert in acute management of conditions across every subspecialty. You meet people at their most vulnerable, and in that moment, skill matters—but so does presence. Patients may not remember every step you took, but they’ll remember if they felt safe in your hands.”
Dr. Linsky earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business before completing his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He remained in Dallas for residency training at Parkland Memorial Hospital—the nation’s busiest emergency department—where he later served as Chief Resident.
During his time at Parkland, the events of 9/11 reshaped the medical community’s understanding of preparedness and security. “In the aftermath of 9/11, there were real concerns about bioterrorism and chemical or explosive attacks. That urgency pushed a major effort in medical counterterrorism, and I wanted to be part of it,” Dr. Linsky says. He pursued a fellowship in government emergency medical security services at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and was a visiting fellow at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Emergency Preparedness in Washington, D.C. There, he collaborated with Homeland Security teams, the Secret Service, and local SWAT teams to design national disaster training programs for frontline providers.
Over the next 20 years, he served as an attending physician at Parkland, Medical City Hospital of Dallas, Baylor Medical Center at Irving, and Texas Health Fort Worth. In 2023, he joined the faculty at New York University Langone Health, where he served for two years as an attending physician. He now serves as Medical Director of the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department.
Dr. Linsky also has expertise in international aeromedical transport, coordinating care for patients across continents, stabilizing people who become sick or injured abroad, arranging evacuation flights, and ensuring critically ill patients receive uninterrupted care until they reach the right hospital at home. “These situations demand both logistics and medicine,” he says. “The patient and their family need to know you’ve got them. I try to earn that trust from every patient I see.”
For more than a decade, Dr. Linsky has also trained medical students, physician assistant students, and residents as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at both the TCU Burnett School of Medicine and NYU Langone. “I love working with the next generation,” Dr. Linsky says. “They push me to stay current, and I get to help shape how they think about medicine—not just the science of it, but the responsibility.”
At Atria, Dr. Linsky appreciates the model of care that gives doctors the time to focus fully on the patient. “In the emergency department, you don’t always have the luxury of time. Here, I do—and that means I can slow down, listen, and help patients not only get through a crisis but also feel more grounded and confident in their health moving forward.”
Dr. Linsky, who is fluent in English and Spanish, is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook. He lives in New York and enjoys fitness, meditation, and photography.
