Dr. Edo Paz is a primary care physician and cardiologist who has spent his career at the forefront of preventive medicine and innovative health care delivery. He combines his broad clinical expertise with a passion for using technology to transform how people understand and engage with their health, helping each person take proactive steps that set them up for lifelong well-being.
Dr. Paz’s interest in medicine was piqued during his senior year of high school when his father became ill and needed triple bypass surgery. Witnessing the profound impact his father’s doctors had—during his surgery and through ongoing care afterward—inspired him to pursue a career where he could make a similar difference in people’s lives.
After earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry from Harvard University, Dr. Paz received his medical degree from Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his internal medicine residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, then pursued fellowships in cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging at NYP, in one of the country’s top cardiology programs. Dr. Paz also became quadruple board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
During his training at NewYork-Presbyterian, Dr. Paz treated critically ill cardiac patients—people with heart attacks, congestive heart failure, and dangerous arrhythmias. While he found this work extremely fulfilling, he saw these critical events were often preceded by years of missed opportunities. Drawing on this experience and a brief time consulting for health tech companies, Dr. Paz decided to commit his career to prevention and early detection, developing a distinct focus on using leading-edge technology to champion preventive primary care and cardiology.
“Internal medicine and its subspecialties allow you to think deeply about complex issues, find what could be causing them, and figure out how to solve them,” Dr. Paz says. “In particular, cardiology is one where if you understand a few basic mechanisms, that unlocks a lot of the problems that heart patients experience.”
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Paz helped found Heartbeat Health, a virtual-first cardiology practice that uses technology to make cardiovascular care more accessible. “I’ve always been interested in innovative care models,” Dr. Paz says. “I have an understanding that our current system doesn’t work very well for many people.” Even for common problems like high blood pressure, he notes, only about a quarter of people have their condition controlled.
Dr. Paz then joined K Health as Vice President of Medical, where he helped build an AI-powered telemedicine service, and more recently worked as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Hello Heart, a digital heart health platform. In these roles, he developed widely adopted clinical protocols, ensured quality and safety, and built products that encouraged people to prioritize their health. “I focused on engaging people, getting them interested in their health, and empowering them to take control of it,” he says.
Dr. Paz has conducted research on topics including digital health interventions and new ways to predict risk, with many peer-reviewed studies appearing in leading medical journals. He also enjoys keeping up to date with the latest research across disciplines so he can share this knowledge with his patients.
Throughout his career, Dr. Paz has maintained an active clinical practice, most recently at White Plains Hospital, where he has provided inpatient and outpatient care. Dr. Paz’s approach is rooted in building lasting relationships so he and his patients can learn from one another. “The average physician doesn’t have enough time to answer questions comprehensively, so patients are often left trying to figure things out after the visit,” he says. “Medicine is changing at a lightning fast pace, and I believe education and collaboration are key. I always want to make sure each patient understands what the care plan is and why we’re following it.”
Dr. Paz focuses on the big picture rather than simply addressing isolated problems. He enjoys asking his patients about their goals, desires, and hesitations, and listening to their stories. These conversations help him connect people’s health plans to priorities they care about, think through areas of future risk, and set up ongoing support they may need to stick with their treatments.
Atria’s unique model of care allows Dr. Paz to do this while spending meaningful time with every patient and their family, creating a true partnership. He incorporates cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments, collaboration with specialists, and a relentless preventive focus to give all his patients the highest-quality care. “An ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure,” Dr. Paz likes to say.
Dr. Paz speaks English, Hebrew, and Spanish. He is from a large family of six siblings, and enjoys spending time with them as well as with his wife and three children. Dr. Paz is passionate about sports, and enjoys taking his children to sporting events and staying active himself.
